Getting started
How do I add a pet?
The first time you open Lola it asks for your first pet. Add more from the Home screen with "Add pet". Only the name is required, and you choose dog or cat; breed, birth date (or an estimate, common for rescues), weight, photo and emergency notes are optional.
How do I log a meal, medication, vet visit or weight?
On Home, tap "Log Care Event", choose the pet (or "All pets", except for weight) and the type of entry. Everything you log appears on the Timeline, where you can search and filter.
Can I edit or delete an entry?
Yes. Open it from the Timeline to edit it, or delete it with the two-step confirmation. Pain checks can't be edited, so they stay exactly as observed, but you can delete them.
Reminders and notifications
How do reminders work?
In Reminders, tap "Add reminder", choose the pet (or "All pets" for one household reminder), the category, the time and how often it repeats. When you mark a medication or meal reminder done, Lola also logs it on the Timeline.
I'm not getting notifications.
- Check that notifications are on: phone Settings → Apps → Lola → Notifications. Lola also shows a "Turn on" banner on the Reminders screen when they're off.
- Make sure the reminder is switched on in Reminders.
- Android may deliver a reminder up to about a minute late to save battery; battery-saver modes can delay it further.
Checkups & Comfort
What is the pain check?
If you're worried your pet is in pain, Checkups & Comfort walks you through a few questions about the body area, how they're reacting, when it started and any warning signs. It suggests how urgent things look and prepares a summary you can share with your vet. It can't examine your pet and isn't a diagnosis: if you're worried, call your vet or an emergency clinic.
What is Midnight Calm Mode?
A dim, quiet screen for stressful moments: a breathing guide, your pet's emergency notes, and the medications given in the last 24 hours, so you don't give an extra dose by mistake.
Your data
Where is my data stored?
On your phone, never on our servers: Lola has no account and no server. Copies leave the phone only through your phone's own backup or backup files you export. See the privacy policy for the details, including your phone's own backup.
How do I back up or move to a new phone?
- On your current phone: Settings → Export data, then save the file somewhere safe (for example your cloud storage).
- On the new phone: install Lola, then Settings → Restore data and pick that file.
- Restoring replaces everything that's on the new phone with the backup.
- The backup file isn't encrypted, so keep it somewhere private.
Can my family use Lola for the same pet?
Lola is designed for one caregiver per phone today. Sharing between phones isn't supported yet; you can tell us if you'd like it.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual entries or pets in the app, use Settings → Clean up for old entries, or uninstall Lola to remove everything from the phone. Copies may remain in your phone's own backup or in backup files you exported until you delete them.
Languages
How do I change the language?
Lola follows your phone's language: English, Español or Français. Change it in phone Settings → System → Languages, or, on Android 13 and later, just for Lola in Settings → Apps → Lola → Language.
